Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle join forces for California comedy tour

Dave Chappelle is the type of guy who never gets over something, so the fact that he can tour with a couple of comedians who actually do things right is incredible.

And California? He’s about to set his sights on the Golden State: the Comedy Store in Santa Monica is playing host to California stand-up comedian Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, Saturday at 8 p.m.

It’s not a joke — Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are heading to the Comedy Store in Santa Monica to do what they do best: play music.

The comedian Rock has been on a roll since he returned to the stage with his tour Rock and Roll is Dead in 2011. His next move was to do stand-up comedy after a series of standup specials in 2013. The tour, Rock and Roll, is his first and largest headlining tour: Rock and Chappelle also have a series of touring specials, which are filmed and are available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Since 2012, Rock has gone with a more comedic approach. He returned to television in 2013 with a series of specials, and has released his full-length album, It’s Darker on Blu-Ray in October 2013.

So when the Comedy Store is hosting Rock and Chappelle, the comedian is in for an all new experience.

“Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle have a rare combination of musical talents,” said Joe Barone, owner of the Comedy Store. “The guys’ shows are a testament to what comedy can and should be.”

To get a taste of what the comedy is all about, Rock and Chappelle are bringing their weekly shows to the Comic Strip Live in Santa Monica this Saturday.
