American Frances Tiafoe upsets Rafael Nadal in 4th round of US Open

Marcelino is a three-time French Open champion (2011, 2014 and 2016) and a three-time Wimbledon champion (1998, 2000 and 2002). He reached the final of the 2004 US Open and was a runner-up in 2007.

I guess I am going to need to get a new chair now, but the first thing I am going to read in the New York Times to come up with something else to think about.

Tennis player Caroline Wozniacki was upset by compatriot Francesca Schiavone during her first round match in the 2016 US Open. I thought the second set was about as good as Serena Williams played in the fourth round of the 2006 US Open, right? Wrong. Schiavone held her own better than Williams did, but there is no denying her ability to play a strong, aggressive baseline game.

That is so boring I don’t know how you can write this stuff! Schiavone won the first set 6-2, with a 5-4 and then held 5-2 in the second, making 6-2 at the end of the second. The third game was 3-3, and the fourth 7-5. Bertens held 5-5 after winning the first two games of the third. The fifth and sixth games went to 5-5 and then 6-4. The final game was a tiebreak, and after Schiavone got the first serve out she went up 3-2, with a serve and a double fault, but the second serve was out, and the serve-and-volley game was just awful. I don’t think any of that really matter, because she still made the fourth round, and a winner.
