A New York City man whose case brought attention to the rights of homeless people in New York State was found murdered in his tent by thieves early Friday morning.

Police are working to determine whether they are related to the robbery on the 500 block of Newcomb Avenue, near the corner of Hudson Street, which left the victim lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
