The shooting occurred at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the 7900 block of North Van Nuys Boulevard south of Sepulveda Boulevard. Authorities told NBC4 Los Angeles at a press conference that it appeared there had been a shootout between the suspect and the victim.

The women has gunshot wounds and is hospitalized, police said. The shooting is being investigated as a multiple wounding.
